Policy Bulletin 203 - Meter Deposit
Adopted 2007/12, Revised 2018/05
The cost of a meter and meter pit shall be included in the water user hookup fee. A meter deposit in the amount of $200.00 may be required of Users who are tenants, lessees, renters and/or other non-owners who otherwise occupy and/or_utilize the water tap at a specific location. All meters shall be and remain the property ofthe Corporation.
The deposit is refundable. When a User discontinues water service, the deposit can be redeemed at the Corporation's office, provided all amounts due and owing the Corporation are paid in full.
The Corporation shall make the final decision on meter size for all applicants for service. An oversize meter will not be allowed where measuring capabilities at low flow rates could cause loss of revenue.
The individual in whose name the deposit is paid shall be responsible for payment of all bills incurred in connection with the service furnished. In the case of a tenant, the landowner shall be notified of delinquency of a tenant's water bill. However, provided the landowner signed the water user agreement, the owner of the property where the service is located shall continue to be responsible for the minimum bill as provided by the water user agreement, and, in the event the tenant User fails to pay the bill, the owner of the property shall remain responsible for the billings at the Service location.
