The Regular Meeting of the Board of Directors of the Southern Black Hills Water System was held at the Crazy Horse Monument Thursday, May 27, 2021.
Chairman Wick called the meeting to order at approximately 1:00 p.m.
ROLL CALL– The following Board Members were present: Wick, Zolnowsky, Kraus, Krump and DeFries. Smith, Baird and Peplinski were absent. Others in attendance were Don Peterson.
AGENDA – Motion by DeFries, 2nd by Krump to approve the agenda. Motion passed unanimously.
MINUTES - Motion by Zolnowsky, 2nd by Kraus to approve the minutes of the Regular meeting of April 27, 2021. Motion passed unanimously.
TREASURER’S REPORT – Don Peterson presented the treasures report for April. The report was reviewed by the board members. Motion by DeFries, 2nd by Krump to approve the treasures report. Motion passed unanimously. The check sequence ending April 30 was check #3829 and beginning May 1 check #3830.
OLD BUSINESS –
Rushmore Ranch Sweeney Agreement Motion by Krump, 2nd by Zolnowsky to accept the agreement and have Chairman Ted Wick sign the agreement and forward to Sweeney. Motion passed unanimously.
Managers’ Report Don Peterson informed the board that a Vulnerability study has been completed and accepted.
Don Peterson reported that the Paramont Point water rights agreement has been extended to November.
Don Peterson reported that the Rushmore Ranch water rights agreement now includes Rural water too.
Don Peterson presented a bill from Dakota Pump for repairing the pump at Spring Creek along with rehabbing the broken pump and buying a new pump as back up. Motion by Krump, 2nd by DeFries to accept the proposal. Motion passed unanimously.
NEW BUSINESS
2020 Audit Ketel Thorstenson – Shelley Goodrich
Shelley Goodrich presented the 2020 Audit to the Board. Shelly discussed the Report with the Board and answered the members’ questions. Shelley noted that the report showed that the SBHWS is doing a good job and should be commended for their progress in their accounting. Motion by Kraus, 2nd by Krump to accept the 2020 Audit. Motion passed unanimously.
PUBLIC QUESTIONS AND COMMENTS - None
UPCOMING MEETINGS
The next meeting of the Southern Black Hills System Board will be June 24, 1:00 PM at the Crazy Horse Monument in Custer.
ADJOURNMENT - Motion by Krump, 2nd by Zolnowsky to adjourn the meeting at approximately 3:30 PM. Motion approved unanimously.
