Thursday October 25, 2018
The Regular Meeting of the Board of Directors of the Southern Black Hills Water System was held at the Sentinel Federal Credit Union, Custer, South Dakota on Thursday, October 25, 2018.
Chairman Wick called the meeting to order at approximately 1:00 p.m.
ROLL CALL– The following Board Members were present: Smith, Baird, DeFries, Kraus, Peplinski and Wick. Members Seaboldt and Beard were absent. Others in attendance was Don Peterson.
AGENDA – Motion by DeFries, 2nd by Kraus to approve the agenda. Motion approved unanimously.
MINUTES - Motion by Baird, 2nd by Peplinski to approve the minutes of the Regular Meeting of September 20. Motion approved unanimously.
TREASURER’S REPORT – Don Peterson presented the treasures report. The report was reviewed by the board members. Motion by Peplinski to approve the report as read and transfer $30,000 from the checking account to the savings account. 2nd by Baird. Motion approved unanimously.
Managers’ Report
Don updated the board on Mountain Meadows. Three curbs stops had been installed and one water leak had been found.
Don Peterson informed the Board that he is still waiting on engineering costs for the Fall River Water possible connection.
Don Peterson informed the Board that the Leadership Training will be the 14th and 15th of November. Ted Wicks, Don Kraus, John Beard and Bob Baird will be attending.
Don Peterson informed the Board that he will make a $250 donation to the SDRWS. He will talk to our attorney about joining the SRDWS.
Don Peterson reported that he is working with AE2S to determine if it financially beneficial to install a coin operated water point at Rushmore Ranch. The building is currently there and appears that it would not take much to setup the water point. Don will look into the possibilities and report back to the Board.
Don Peterson reported that a possible new water user on Hiway 89 asked if a payment plan could be setup for him rather than paying the total hookup fee upfront. Don said he would check with our attorney if some sort of payment plan could be established for this customer.
NEW BUSINESS
Ted Wicks, Bob Peplinski, Bob Baird, Don Kraus and Jay Smith will attend the SDARW AYC on January 8 – 10, 2019 in Pierre.
Don asked the Board if anyone was interested in being a West River Class B Director for a three year term. No interest was shown.
UPCOMING MEETINGS
The next meeting of the Southern Black Hills Water System Board will be November 29, 2018, 1:00 PM at Sentinel Federal Credit Union in Custer.
ADJOURNMENT - Motion by Smith, 2nd by Peplinski to adjourn the meeting at approximately 2:15 PM. Motion approved unanimously.
