System Board
Crazy Horse Monument
Thursday, October 29, 2020
The Regular Meeting of the Board of Directors of the Southern Black Hills Water System was held at the Crazy Horse Monument Thursday, October 29, 2020.
Chairman Wick called the meeting to order at approximately 1:00 p.m.
ROLL CALL– The following Board Members were present: Wick, Zolnowsky, Seaboldt, Baird, Beard, and DeFries. Smith, Peplinski and Kraus were absent. Others in attendance was Don Peterson.
AGENDA – Motion by Zolnowsky 2nd by Beard to approve the agenda. Motion passed unanimously.
Minutes - Motion by Seaboldt, 2nd by Baird to approve the minutes of the Regular meeting of September 24, 2020. Motion passed unanimously.
TREASURER’S REPORT – Don Peterson presented the treasures report for September. The report was reviewed by the board members. Motion by Baird to approve the treasures report. 2nd by Seaboldt. Motion passed unanimously. The check sequence ending September 30 was check #3710 and beginning October 1 check #3711.
OLD BUSINESS –
Managers’ Report Don Peterson reported that the Electrician will be at the Casey wellhouse.
Don Peterson reported that the Forest Service has not yet put a notice in the Rapid City Paper for review.
Don Peterson informed the Board that there is a possibility of a new 40 lot development east of Spring Creek.
Don Peterson reported that the developer from the Linskov development will not be using SBHWS.
Don Peterson noted that there will be a Water Rights change from Suburban House to Rural Water Distribution and adding a 5 year extension to the Paramount Point water rights agreement.
Don Peterson informed the Board that he will be reviewing the Verizon contract.
Don Peterson provided water usage numbers for September to the board. Phase 1 – 392k gallons, phase 2 – 535k gallons, Paramount Point – 133k gallons, Rushmore Ranch – 526k gallons and Spring Creek – 801k gallons.
Don Peterson reported that the 2021 Annual Water Conference in Pierre has been cancelled due to the Corona Virus.
Don Peterson updated the Board that employees of SBHWS will not be able to enroll in the SDRS.

UPCOMING MEETINGS
The next meeting of the Southern Black Hills System Board will be November 19 1:00 PM at the Crazy Horse Monument in Custer.
ADJOURNMENT - Motion by Seaboldt 2nd by Baird to adjourn the meeting at approximately 2:15 PM. Motion approved unanimously.
