Thursday, June 22, 2023
The Regular Meeting of the Board of Directors of the Southern Black Hills Water System was held at the Crazy Horse Monument on Thursday, June 22, 2023.
Chairman Wick called the meeting to order at approximately 1:00 p.m.
ROLL CALL – The following Board Members were present: Wick, Baird, Beard, Kraus, Nase, Seaboldt, and Zolnowsky; Krump and Smith were absent. Others in attendance were Don Peterson.
AGENDA – Motion by Seaboldt, 2nd by Kraus to approve the agenda. Motion passed unanimously.
MINUTES - Motion by Seaboldt, 2nd by Baird to approve the minutes of the May 25 meeting. Motion passed unanimously.
TREASURER’S REPORT – Don Peterson presented the treasurer’s reports for May 2023. The report was reviewed by the board members. Motion by Zolnowsky, 2nd by Seaboldt to approve the treasurer’s report and transfer $15,000 from the regular checking account into the RD account. Motion passed unanimously. The check sequence ending May 31 was check #4237 and beginning June 1 was check #4238.
OLD BUSINESS –
Ketel Thorstenson provided final copies of the 2022 Audit Report. Motion to accept the audit report by Seaboldt, 2nd by Kraus. Motion passed unanimously.
Managers’ Report
Implementation of the customer notification system via IRIS has commenced. Information and a request for contact information for customers is planned to go out with the July mailing, asking for return of forms by the end of August.
The US Forest Service provided an updated version of the permit for use of the Casey well. Apparently, a paragraph requiring reports to USFS on pressure issues was missed in applying updates. SBHWS management will work with the FS to address this last bit, since USFS essentially agreed with all revisions we requested in a recent meeting.

There was no Executive Session.

The next meeting of the Southern Black Hills System Board will be July 27, 1:00 PM at the Crazy Horse Monument in Custer.
ADJOURNMENT - Motion by Seaboldt to adjourn the meeting at 2:35 PM, 2nd by Nase. Motion passed unanimously.
