The Annual Meeting of the Southern Black Hills Water System was held at the Pringle Community Hall, Pringle, South Dakota on Saturday, September 26, 2020.
Chairman Wick called the meeting to order at approximately 1:00 p.m.
ROLL CALL– Chairman Wick verified 9 members attending the meeting and 22 proxies received. That is enough for a quorum.
MINUTES - Motion by Broyles and 2nd by Barker to approve the minutes of last year’s meeting held on October 5, 2019. Motion passed unanimously.
ELECTION – Talbot Wieczorek stated two petitions had been taken out for the 3 year terms. John Zolnowsky and Bob Baird had taken out the petitions. No one had taken out a petition for the one year term. The Board of Director’s will be looking for someone to fill that term. Motion by Barker and 2nd by Broyles to accept the nominations. Motion passed unanimously.
Auditors Report – Shelly Goodrich presented the 2019 Financial Summary-Modified Cash Basis. She answered questions from the Board of Directors and from individuals attending the meeting.
Managers’ Report
System Manager Don Peterson presented the Manager report.
Water Rates
Chairman Wick presented the 2021 water rate increases. The rate will be $95 per month and $77 for a pasture tap. The $4 for a thousand gallons will remain in effect.
Members Comments
Discussion on the increase was brought forward. Chairman Wick stated the increase is due to higher costs and planning for equipment replacement in the future.
ADJOURNMENT - Chairman Wick thanked all for attending the annual meeting and asked to close the meeting. Motion by Beard, 2nd by DeFries to adjourn the meeting at approximately 2:00 PM. Motion approved unanimously.

- The 2019 DENR Drinking Water Certificate of Achievement award was presented. The DENR certificate identifies and rewards those water systems and their operation specialists that have demonstrated excellence in water system management and maintenance.
- Water usage so far for this year was 8.8 million gallons.
- The board is still waiting for the Forest Service to grant permission to put the Casey well water thru the pipeline across Forest Service property.
