System Board
Crazy Horse Monument
Thursday, August 26, 2021
The Regular Meeting of the Board of Directors of the Southern Black Hills Water System was held at the Crazy Horse Monument Thursday, August 26, 2021.
Chairman Wick called the meeting to order at approximately 1:00 p.m.
ROLL CALL– The following Board Members were present: Wick, Zolnowsky, Krump, Baird, Kraus and DeFries. Smith, Beard and Peplinski were absent. Others in attendance were Don Peterson.
AGENDA – Motion by Baird, 2nd by Krump to approve the agenda. Motion passed unanimously.
MINUTES - Motion by Zolnowsky, 2nd by Kraus to approve the minutes of the Regular meeting of July 29, 2021. Motion passed unanimously.
TREASURER’S REPORT – Don Peterson presented the treasures report for August. The report was reviewed by the board members. Motion by Krump, 2nd by Zolnowsky to approve the treasures report. Motion passed unanimously. The check sequence ending July 31 was check #3879 and beginning August 1 check #3880.
OLD BUSINESS –
Managers’ Report Don Peterson informed the board that the DANR provided approval for the line from Paramont Point to Hwy 79.
Don Peterson reported on the Desperado development. The water line within the development will have two connecting points to SBHWS. Lot 35 of the development was also discussed. A possible long lease of the property vice ownership is now being considered.
Don Peterson reported that the booster pump at the Streeter well will require repair or replacement of the electronics on the pump according to First Resource Solutions. Don is waiting for estimates on the cost of replacement or repair to include doing both pumps at the well.
Don Peterson informed the board that he is working with Rural Development concerning the 3rd well at Paramont Point. The well would be considered a backup to preclude further approvals.
Don Peterson noted that the Annual meeting will be September 18 at the Pringle hall. Shelly Goodrich will be at the meeting. Don noted that there will be two (two year) positions open.
