Thursday, August 24, 2017
The Regular Meeting of the Board of Directors of the Southern Black Hills water System was held at the Sentinel Federal Credit Union, Custer, South Dakota on Thursday, August24th, 2017.
Chairman Wicks called the meeting to order at approximately 1:00 p.m.
ROLL CALL– The following Board Members were present: Baird, DeFries, Seaboldt, Smith, Peplinski, Beard and Wick. Member Kraus was absent. Others in Attendance were Kevin Smith, and Ted Schultz of AE2S and Don Peterson. No other persons were present.
AGENDA – Motion by Baird, Second by Smith to approve the agenda. Motion approved unanimously.
MINUTES - Motion by Baird, second by Smith to approve the minutes of the Regular Meeting of June 22, 2017 as presented. Motion Approved Unanimously.
TREASURER’S REPORT – Don Peterson presented the treasures report. The written report was reviewed by the board Members. Motion by Peplinski to approve the report with 2nd by Baird. Motion approved unanimously.
OLD BUSINESS
Don informed the Board that he will have Qualified Presort Company mailing the bills out starting in September. Barb has setup the files for the company. Will be adding Spring Creek and Rushmore Ranch in the future. A sample billing document was presented and reviewed by the board. The billing document will allow the SBHWS to add information to the bill and have a return envelope enclosed as well.
The monitoring well at the trailer site is providing 300+ gallons per minute. We are currently waiting for BHCOOP to bring in 3 phase power for the pump and when completed, the pump test will be started.
The standby generator pads have been poured and should have the generators setup in September.
Don met with Jesse Vrooman and completed the exit interview for the 2016 audit. Jesse also spoke with Ted Wick and John Beard.
Maguire Iron will be providing a quote for inspecting the underground tank by the trailer. They will be using an ROV to inspect the tank alleviating the need to drain the tank. This should be completed this fall.

The next meeting of the Southern Black Hills Water System Board will be September 28, 2017, 1:00 PM at Sentinel Federal Credit Union in Custer.
The annual meeting will be September 16 at 1PM in the Pringle Community Center.

- Paramount Point
Ted Schultz provided an update on the Paramount Point project. The lines have been installed and will be filled this week for Phase 1. The lines will be pressure tested and inspected. The contractor has been doing a good job according to Ted. The system is expected to be fully operational by mid October. Ted informed the board that the infrastructure needed to be updated to include a new well house and possibly a water storage tank. - Managers Report
